At Fleming Hockey Skills Camp, our team consists of experienced coaches who are passionate about nurturing young talent. With backgrounds in collegiate and elite-level hockey, they bring a wealth of knowledge and skills to the rink. Our coaches focus on developing each player's abilities in a supportive and motivating environment, ensuring that every child reaches their full potential on and off the ice.

Jim Fleming

Founder, Director

With over 30 years of experience in running camps and a former U of A Golden Bear, Jim is a leader in power skating, having also authored a book on the subject. He continues to teach youth and adults year-round.

Kevin Fleming

Camp Coordinator, Lead Instructor

Kevin brings over 30 years of coaching experience and a passion for youth development as a PE teacher. He still plays recreationally, advocating for enjoyment in the sport.

Ryan Fleming

U13 AA Development Coach

Ryan is a certified PEP instructor with 10+ years of coaching experience, ranging from Discovery to AAA. He is excited to return for his 4th year at the camp.

Mark Fleming

Lead Instructor

A former Senior AAA player and Head Coach from Initiation to Bantam AA, Mark has also helmed Spring Hockey AAA teams and served as the President of Crossfield Minor Hockey.

Hudson Sedo

Goalie Instructor

An experienced goaltender with over 13 years in the game and a debut in the AJHL, Hudson is passionate about teaching goalies the skills they need to succeed.

Operations / Logistics

At Fleming Hockey Skills Camp, logistics are essential for a seamless experience. Briana Saskiw, affectionately known as “The Little General,” expertly organizes all female dressing rooms and oversees off-ice logistics, ensuring that everything runs smoothly. With her 9th year at the camp, she brings a wealth of experience and dedication. As the granddaughter of Coach Jim, she carries on a legacy of passion for hockey and commitment to nurturing young talent.

The Little General

Briana plays a crucial role in our camp’s success—her organized approach to logistics supports our players and coaches alike, allowing everyone to focus on developing their skills. Her long-standing connection to the camp through her grandfather adds a personal touch to her commitment.

Coaching & Ice Assistants

Fleming Hockey Skills Camp is a premier youth hockey program in Edmonton, Alberta, designed for players aged 6 to 15. Our camp is dedicated to enhancing hockey skills through rigorous training sessions at Millwoods Rec Centre. We focus on key areas such as power skating, shooting, passing, checking, and game strategy. Our experienced coaches, with collegiate and elite backgrounds, guide players through progressive drills and real-game simulations, ensuring an engaging and effective training environment.

Devon “Devo” Hamaliuk

Former captain, Smoky Lake U18 Midgets.

Devo has an extensive junior career with the Vegreville Rangers and is a proud provincial medalist. He assists with coaching and power skating, ensuring players develop their skills effectively.

Dryden Lalonde

University of Alberta intramural player.

Dryden excels as a power skating and pond hockey assistant. He also serves as an on-ice assistant and camp counselor, helping young athletes grow and learn.

Jake Fleming

U17 HC Edmonton Club (JPHL).

Jake is an up-and-coming player with a strong presence at the camp. He is on the path to join the U18 Lloydminster Athletics, bringing fresh talent and enthusiasm.

Cheyanne Harty

14-year-old counselor.

Cheyanne has played since age 5 with Smoky Lake Minor Hockey and participated in spring hockey with Central Alberta Rage. She loves teaching younger players, sharing her passion for the game!
